Mike Krzyzewski

Mike Krzyzewski, better known as Coach K, is an American basketball coach widely regarded as one of the greatest in the history of the sport. Born on February 13, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, he attended the United States Military Academy at West Point, where he played basketball. After a five-year stint in the army, Krzyzewski launched his coaching career and quickly made a name for himself. In 1980, he became the head coach of the Duke University Blue Devils men’s basketball team, a position he held for over four decades. Coach K transformed Duke into a powerhouse, guiding them to numerous successes, including five NCAA championships (1991, 1992, 2001, 2010, 2015) and twelve appearances in the Final Four. In addition to his collegiate coaching accomplishments, he led the American men’s national basketball team to gold medals at the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympic Games, earning him a reputation as an extraordinary leader and strategist. Krzyzewski’s contributions to the game have been recognized with several accolades, including induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
