Jim Sensenbrenner

Jim Sensenbrenner is an American politician born on June 14, 1943 in Chicago, Illinois. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Stanford University and his law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School. Sensenbrenner served as a legislative assistant and assistant director of the United States House of Representatives Republican Conference before being elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 1968. He went on to serve as a member of the United States House of Representatives representing Wisconsin’s 5th congressional district from 1979 to 2021. Throughout his tenure, Sensenbrenner held various leadership positions, including Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and the House Science and Technology Committee. He played a key role in legislative initiatives such as the USA Patriot Act and was known for his conservative stance on issues such as limited government and strong national defense. Sensenbrenner announced his retirement from Congress in 2019 and concluded his term in January 2021.
