Gilles Duceppe

Gilles Duceppe is a Canadian politician born on July 22, 1947 in Montreal, Quebec. He is best known as the former leader of the Bloc Québécois, a political party that advocates for Quebec sovereignty. Duceppe was a member of Parliament for the riding of Laurier-Sainte-Marie from 1990 to 2011. He also held the position of leader of the Bloc Québécois from 1997 to 2011, during which he played a significant role in promoting Quebec’s independence from Canada.
