Christo Vladimirov Javacheff, known professionally as Christo, was an artist of Bulgarian origin. Born on June 13, 1935 in Gabrovo, Bulgaria, he was best known for his large-scale environmental installations. Christo’s works often involved buildings, landmarks, and landscapes wrapped in fabric or other materials to create temporary and visually striking transformations. Some of his most notable projects include “The Gates” in New York’s Central Park and “Wrapped Reichstag” in Berlin. Christo passed away on May 31, 2020, leaving behind a legacy of monumental and immersive art.
