Allen Weinstein

Allen Weinstein (1937-2015) was an American official and historian. Born in New York, Weinstein obtained his undergraduate degree from Columbia University before pursuing a PhD in history from Yale University. Throughout his distinguished career, he held various positions in academia and government. Weinstein was a history professor at several universities and was a prolific author, focusing on Russian and American history. He also worked for the United States Information Agency and The Voice of America, where he promoted democracy and American ideals worldwide. In 2005, Weinstein was appointed the ninth Archivist of the United States, overseeing the National Archives and Records Administration. His tenure involved significant initiatives to digitize historical documents and make government records more accessible.
